Frank Lloyd Wright's Kentuck Knob | Design Collection by Audra Azoury

In the little town of Chalk Hill, a little over an hour outside of Pittsburgh, sits a little house which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1954. Although not as well know as Fallingwater, Kentuck Knob is a true treasure, and a perfect fall road trip destination.

The house is somewhat simplistic, yet there is nothing ordinary about it. Kentuck Knob, also referred to as The Hagan House, was designed on a hexagonal grid and sits high upon a ridge overlooking the Youghiogheny River gorge. The hexagonal layout allows for more open angles and creates the feel of flow and movement throughout the interior. Tidewater cypress, native fieldstone and walls of windows create a seamless flow between the house and its natural surroundings. I won't tell you any more of the history of the house, because I don't want to give away too many secrets. You'll hear all of those while on your tour!

Over the summer I spent my time soaking up all of the beauty that Kentuck Knob has to offer. I enjoyed the official tour and was also escorted through secret nooks and crannies (fun!). When I am creating designs, I like to spend a lot of time just "being" in the surroundings and soaking up the energy of the house and land. Kentuck Knob and its surroundings are tranquil and filled with such a calm energy that I didn't want to leave. Hexagons and triangles are repeated throughout in big ways, and also in tiny details that could be easily overlooked.

My new Kentuck Knob Collection is a reflection of both the house and its surroundings. Ornaments, earrings, necklaces, key chains & tea towels are some of the items that we are launching with.

I hope you like them!

Audra
