This park was established in 1933 to protect and showcase the giant saguaro cactus, an iconic symbol of the American Southwest. The saguaro cactus is unique to the Sonoran Desert, and the park provides vital habitat for these slow-growing giants. The park offers scenic drives, such as the Cactus Forest Loop Drive and the Bajada Loop Drive.
